The best time to visit Nice for a boat trip is June or early September. If you are timing a boat cruise in Nice, the month decides which boats still sail, not just how warm the water feels.
The sea off Nice is calm and sunny for much of the year, so the weather is rarely what stops you. The timetable is. Most shared boats and every day ferry sail from spring to October, then stop, each on its own date.
The weather matters most at the edges. Rain comes in autumn: October and November are the wettest months, with storms. Summer is dry and bright, and the boats are full. So pick the month for the boat you want first, then for the sun.

Expect 13 °C by day, 74 mm of rain on about 6 days, and 157 hours of sun. Few boats sail. Trans Côte d'Azur's cruises are all stopped. The solar boats list blankets for winter trips, so ask them about your dates.
Expect 14 °C by day, 54 mm of rain on about 5 days, and 166 hours of sun. The 1-hour cruise from Quai Lunel restarts on 17 February, at 11:00 and 15:00, daily except Mondays. It is the first scheduled boat of the year.
Expect 15 °C by day, 51 mm of rain on about 5 days, and 218 hours of sun. Sunshine jumps by a third on February. The 1-hour cruise sails daily except Mondays. Bring a warm layer: the wind on deck feels colder than the air.
Expect 17 °C by day, 69 mm of rain on about 6 days, and 229 hours of sun. The Monaco ferry starts on 4 April: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The sunset RIB starts on 1 April, 1 hour 30 and €55.
Expect 21 °C by day, 40 mm of rain on about 5 days, and 271 hours of sun. The Saint-Tropez boat starts on 12 May. The sunset RIB grows to two hours, at €65. The sunset catamaran sails at 19:30.
Expect 25 °C by day, 36 mm of rain on about 4 days, and 310 hours of sun. Every boat is sailing, and the crowds of July have not come. The sunset RIB rises to €75 from 16 June. Book the evening boats ahead.
Expect 28 °C by day, 14 mm of rain on about 2 days, and 349 hours of sun. The sunniest month, and nearly dry. The Saint-Tropez boat sails every day except Monday. Hats and water matter on a RIB, which has no shade.
Expect 28 °C by day, 17 mm of rain on about 2 days, and 323 hours of sun. The warmest month. The sunset catamaran moves to 19:00. Thunder is likelier than in July. Book shared boats ahead, as the small ones fill.
Expect 25 °C by day, 81 mm of rain on about 5 days, and 250 hours of sun. Rain returns, and thunder comes on about four days. The sunset catamaran sails at 18:30. The Saint-Tropez boat drops back to four days a week.
Expect 21 °C by day, 128 mm of rain on about 8 days, and 191 hours of sun. The season ends in stages. The sunset catamaran's timetable stops on 5 October, Saint-Tropez on 25 October, the sunset RIB on 30 October, Monaco on 31 October.
Expect 17 °C by day, 138 mm of rain on about 8 days, and 152 hours of sun. The wettest month. The 1-hour cruise makes its last sailing of 2026 on 1 November. After that, ask a charter or the solar boats about your dates.
Expect 14 °C by day, 90 mm of rain on about 6 days, and 145 hours of sun. Winter light: the shortest sunshine of the year. Scheduled boats do not sail. Charters decide day by day, by the sea.
The season does not end on one day. It ends boat by boat through October, and the evening boats stop first. If your trip falls in October, check this first.

The hour you sail changes the trip as much as the month. Mornings are cooler and calmer. Afternoons are hot on an open boat. The evening boats give you the light.

Météo-France records the lowest average wind at Nice from June to August, and its strongest in December. Gusts of 58 km/h or more come on about four or five days a month from November to May, and about two a month in summer.
The mistral is the north-west wind of the Rhône valley. Along the Côte d'Azur it is channelled by the mountains and often blows from the west, with clear skies. When it does blow, the sea can turn rough, and the captain will decide.
The operators set their own rules. Nissa Croisières postpones or cancels with a refund in bad weather. Trans Côte d'Azur may cancel or retime a crossing for weather. A charter captain may take you to a calmer bay instead.
July and August are the busy months. The Saint-Tropez boat sails six days a week then, and the small boats sell out first. The Mala cave RIB and the sunset RIB each take about 12 people. The Monaco ferry carries up to 200 people.
In June and September you get the same boats with fewer people on them. If you only have one evening, book the sunset boat before you book anything else. Every trip listed here refunds in full if you cancel at least 24 hours ahead.
